Aux Couleurs du Monde 17th districtThailand and Mexican specialities
118, rue Truffaut
75017 PARIS
M° Brochant (ligne 13)
I found this address during my searches on Internet and the idea to be able to choose specialities of different origins pleased me.
Then my friends and I went there yesterday evening. It is not close to the subway and in a rather ugly and deserted place. So we had a moment of doubt …
But when we arrives at 19.30 there were already clients. The welcome is very nice and the place well decorated. Tables are well setted, with beautiful glasses and cutlery, what pleased us. I saw on the website, that the menus starter+dish+dessert cost 19.9€, but they were at 25€. And there was only two menus, a Thai and a Mexican. We wanted to mix the flavours we had to eat à la carte.
For the starter, we chosen different dishes: nems for Eve, beef fajitas for Jess and empañadas (beef fritter with olives, spices and egg) and tomatoes salad. Delicious.
For the main dish, we were unanimous, we wanted to taste Chili con carne. I read, always on the net, that it was served like in Mexico country, with the four components served separately (meat, beans, small sausages, and omelet with peppers), but finally Chile was served in a small pot, spiced beef with red and green peppers, served with rice and a corn pancake cut in 4. It was very well served.
For the dessert I chose banana nems wipe in chocolate. Very good, except the chocolate sauce which had the taste of the manufacturer, some true chocolate would have been perfect.Well, in spite of some small disappointments, we had a very good evening in a beautiful place.
