The Musée National de la Marine - Paris

The Musée National de la Marine
Place du Trocadéro is the best place to have a good view on the Eiffel Touer and Champs de Mars. It is also at this place you will find the Palais Chaillot – a remain from the Paris Universal Exhibition of 1937 – This building houses The Théatre National de Chaillot, The Citée de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine, The muse de l’homme (closed for renovation), and The muse national de la Marine.
It is at this museum we were this morning for a guided visit.
First we’ve seen the permanent collections: models of eighteenth-century vessels, paintings of battles or navy scenes (some are of Vernet), modern models like the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier. We have also seen imposing figureheads and the exhibition “Les Marins Font la mode - Sailor chic in Paris”.
The museum was interesting thanks to the guide, if you wish to have a good visit I suggest you to take the audio guides (no supplementary fees) and use one of the 3 multimedia terminals. But I would not go back there without my sons for which the visit may be very interesting more over than that they propose activities (paying) for them. If you like the navy or if you want to see something different visit why not going there !
