FRENCH PASTRIES
Crèpes,
There are lots of persons that when coming to Paris want to try the crêpes.
Personally I don’t really prefer the “Real buckwheat Crêpes”, and if I have one it will be a salty one (ham and cheese for example), so I did not try to make them at home. If you want to try one, you can read the message of Valérie or Geraldine who talk about good restaurants (label Paris-crepes).
So as we love crêpes at home I had to learn how to do them and it is really simple! It is like a pancake recipe without yeast. I always melt first little milk (less than 1/2littre) with 3 eggs and then add flour (2 or 3 cups), salt and melted butter (a small spoon of it). If we want sweat crepes I add some vanilla sugar.
I see if it is liquid enough and add milk or flour according to my needs. Then I leave it for 15 minutes (recipes say more, but I’m not patient enough), and start trying the first one in a really hot pain where I passed a small paper with few butter. I sometimes miss my first crêpe. But then they are all ok.
I really believe that crêpes recipe changes according to one’s taste. At Grands-Boulevards station (line 8 or 9) they sell thick crêpes, personally I prefer them thinner.
My favorite crêpe is the sugar one (just few sugar inside). But you can add chocolate, marmalade, almonds, honey, chestnut…
Bon Appetit!

LE PETIT CREUX
8 rue du Mont Cenis -Montmartre
75018 Paris
Metro: Abesses (line 12), Anvers (line 2) Funiculaire de Montmartre

This small restaurant is situated close to the square of the hillock. The executive is pleasant and modern, very colored at once. I was a little surprised by entering by seeing the executive with regard to the outside. I have tested a “crêpe” ham / cheese / eggs at the 7-euro price with 33cl of dry cider at the 4-euro price. The pate of the “crêpe” was not very cooked but it was furnished well. I continued with a chocolate-brown crepe almond at the 6-euro price. I was too greedy because I was not able to end it. In fact I thought that it was about almond fringe and not of powder of almond. Things being what they are, the service and the welcome were very pleasant.

RESTAURANT ESMERALDA :
2, rue du Cloître de Notre Dame
75004 Paris
Metro: Cité (ligne 4)
Tel: 01 43 54 17 72

To warm my self at the exit of the Cathedral Notre Dame, I went to taste a “sugar crêpe” (very good) with an excellent hot chocolate. The decoration and the area are pleasant; the service is fast with a nice welcome. My only negative remark will be at the level of toilet (to avoid rather).

Paris Restaurant Delmas

Delmas
2, Place de la contrescarpe
75005 Paris
Tél: 01.43.26.51.26

With it glass front, you can discover the small room coffee-crêperie Delmas from the Rue Mouffetard. Without knowing the address previously I was attracted by the decor, soft lighting, armchair, wooden table. I ate buckwheat crepe with salmon and cream, then a sweet crepe with chocolate and coconut, and drank two bowls of cider for 22.80 euros. The young waitress did the balance, her kindness weighed in front of the thin buckwheat crepe that had the name but not the taste. Review: not as good as I thought.

La crêperie des Canettes

La crêperie des Canettes
10 rue des Canettes
75006 Paris
Tel :0143262765
Metro : Saint Germain des Près (line 4) Mabillo (line 10)
Opened from Monday to Saturday

In an atmosphere of the seaside and the holidays, you will sample in the choice of pancakes of buckwheat or wheat the whole sprayed naturally with cider.
As I prefer buckwheat creps, I suggest you " la Tribord " (ham, cheese and apples) which is 7 € otherwise you can take "la complète" which will fill your appetite.
The prices vary from 5 to 9 € depending on the dishes.
The establishment serves naturally also buckwheat or wheat crepes for dessert.
The bottle of dry or soft cider is sold 9 €.

Crêpes La belle ronde
19 rue Daguerre,
75014 Paris

Metro Denfert Rochereau (lines 4, 6 and RER B)

This restaurant restaurant is located in a backyard of Daguerre Street. It opens everyday from noon to 23h00 : an interior space decorated like a modern kitchen with white and flashy colours, and a exterior space with trees and tables to make the most of sunny days.
There is a menu for 10 € during week days and a la carte on weekend and bank hollidays. I ate a crepe sarrasin (buckwheat flour) the "Lolita" with white asparagus, ham, émmental cheese, nuts for 7,90 € + a sweet crepe the "coquelicot" with strawberries, honey and lemon for 6,60 €. Bottle of cider is 8,00 €.
Very quick service like in a fast-food. Good address for little hungries bored of eating hamburgers.
A bientot!
